This treasure of a book features a collection of sketches in pencil , all with an architectural theme. It dates from the mid19th Century - the name Gordon Duff October 1854 is written on the verso of the FFEP.
These original sketches were obviously created by someone with artistic talent - there's a beautiful collection of cottages, old historical buildings, farm buildings and even a seaside scene. There are 14 large pages of drawings some of which have multiple drawings per page. The pages are in excellent condition inside, with little foxing or age toning. The rest of the album is blank with tartan-style endpapers.
Outwardly, the book is quite plain - there is wear to the corners and minor loss to the surface of the leather. There is also splitting and loss to the external joints, but the boards are securely attached. The boards show significant marking and discolouration. The text block edges are marbled which is a lovely feature.
Dimensions approximately 27.5cm x 18.5cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in bubble wrap, patterned paper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
