This stunning Lacquered Folder is filled with blotting paper and would have been used by a Victorian lady writing letters or accounts. This was a time when quill pens were dipped in ink and needed to be blotted to get rid of any excess ink.
It's obviously been well used but in good, antique condition. There is some loss to the decoration on the front in places but the mother of pearl flowers and leaves still shine through brightly. There is scuffing and bumping to the lacquered boards, with loss to the corners. There is loss to the leather spine in places.
Inside, there are several sheets of blotting paper, most of which have been used. The edges of the loose sheets are a bit jagged.
Dimensions approximately 23cm x 16cm x 1cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned paper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
