This stunning little pocket book features some of the works of Lord Tennyson - including In Memoriam, Maud and Lyrics. It says it's volume one so there would have been at least one other volume in the set when it was first published. The book was published by The Walter Scott Publishing. It is undated but there is a name and date written inside of 1908. So the book is likely to be from the Edwardian era.
The book is bound in full teal leather with beautiful blind stamped floral decoration in gold gilt to the front board and spine. It's in good condition but there is some wear to the corners and board edges. The boards have some scuffs and minor marks, as well as a faint crease to the back board. The spine is sunned and the spine edges are rubbed. There is some minor loss to the surface of the leather at the spine ends, and a small split to the head of the spine.
Inside, there is a neatly written name and date on the front free endpaper. The pages show age toning and foxing but are otherwise clean and bright. There are some superficial cracks to the gutter in places but the pages remain tightly bound.
Dimensions approximately 13.5cm x 10cm x 2.2cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubbled wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
