This absolutely stunning edition ofSea Fights and Land Battles by Mrs Valentine was published by Frederick Warne and Co. The book itself is undated but there is a presentation plate inside dated 1894. It's a very striking binding - the book is bound in royal blue cloth over bevelled boards, with blind stamped detail in black and gilt to the front board and spine.
It's in near fine condition, with just some minor rubbing to the corners and foxing to the text block edges. The spine is lightly sunned with crushing to the spine ends.
Inside, there is a presentation plate glued to the front pastedown with a name and date written underneath. In the front free endpaper there is a name and address which has been partially crossed out, as well as an address sticker. The pages show age toning and scattered foxing, with faint creasing to the paper in places.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough.
