This lovely antique edition of Sophie Arnould Actress and Wit was published by Charles Carrington Paris in 1898. So the book is from the end of the Victorian era. It's a larger format half vellum book than one usually sees.
This lovely book is bound in half vellum and green cloth with delicate floral detailing in gilt to spine. It's in very good condition with some light discolouration and marking to the velum. The book shows a slight forward lean and there is light wear to the extremities of the book.
Inside, the pages show age toning and sporadic foxing. There are occasional cracks to the gutter at places but the pages remain tight to the binding. The endpapers are marbled and there are no inscriptions.
Dimensions approximately 24.2cm x 17cm x 3.2cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubbled wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
