This beautiful edition of Manual of Botanic Terms by M C Cooke was published by Robert Hardwick in 1862. So the book is from the earlier part of the Victorian era. It's bound in pebbled green cloth with gilt lettering to the front and spine. The boards show blind stamped detail.
It's in very good condition, but the corners show some wear and bumping. There is also light wear and occasional bumping to the board edges. The boards show minor marks and there is slight darkening to the spine. Crushing to the spine ends has caused minor splitting in the cloth.
Inside, there is slight cracking to the front hinge but all pages remain tightly bound. The front free endpaper is creased and there is some writing in pencil on the verso of the FFEP. The pages show age toning throughout, with sporadic foxing. There are illustration plates towards the end of the book - collated and complete.
Dimensions approximately 17cm x 11.2cm x 1.7cm.
All books purchased will be hand wrapped in patterned paper and string.
I'm gradually switching over to eco-friendly packaging, including 100% recyclable jiffy bags
