I'm excited to offer a rare opportunity to purchase this beautiful early to mid Victorian copy of Shirley by Currer Bell (Charlotte Bronte). Early editions of Charlotte Bronte's novels are hard to find, especially in a fine half leather binding.

This beautiful antiquarian edition of Shirley by Currer Bell was published by Smith, Elder and Co is 1857. The book is bound in contemporary half leather with marbled paper boards. There is gilt detailing to the spine.
The book is in very good condition but does show wear and peeling to the board edges. The corners are worn, with loss to the surface of the leather, and there is minor marking to the boards. The spine is lightly faded and the leather shows some scuffing. Wear to the spine ends has caused loss to the surface of the leather.
Inside, there is an old pencilled price rubbed out on the front free endpaper, along with some pencilled numbers. The pages light show age toning and occasional foxing throughout. The top corner of the Contents Page is creased.
