This beautiful antique edition of The Poetical Works and Remains of Henry Kirke White was published by George Routledge and Co in 1867. It's finely bound in full Morocco, with gilt tooling to the boards and spine. The spine also features five raised bands and all edges are gilt. The book features gilt inner dentelles - it's a really striking binding.
The book is in very good condition, with light wear to the corners and board edges. The top edge of the text block is dulled and the spine is sunned, with wear and minor loss to the surface of the leather. The boards show minor marks.
Inside, the endpapers are marbled and and there is a written name and date opposite the title page - the ink has run onto the title page. The top of the title page has been snipped and a new piece of paper has been glued to the back of the title page to repair this. The pages show light age toning and occasional foxing; someone has written 7 C Cole in the margin of page 29.
The book features some beautiful black and white illustration plates.
Dimensions approximately 16.5cm x 11cm x 3.5cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
