This incredible Dutch book of Psalms was published in 1665 in Amsterdam. It's the oldest book I've ever had in my shop - 360 years old - and still has it's original clasp. It's been professionally rebacked, with a new leather spine attached and the original spine placed over the top. The text block edges are gilt with gauffered detail.
It's in very good condition, with some loss to the corners and dulling to the gilt text block edges. There is some marking and tarnishing to the leather boards, whilst the spine shows some rubbing and minor loss to the surface of the leather.
Inside, there are new endpapers and the title page shows wear and tear, with one of the larger tears being neatly repaired. There is also loss to the edges of the page. The binding is quite tight so the book doesn't open very wide. The pages show age toning with occasional marking and creasing. There is one bookworm hole to the last quarter of the pages but this is quite unobtrusive.
Dimensions approximately 12.3cm x 7.5cm x 3.3cm.
All books purchased will arrive hand wrapped in biodegradable bubble wrap, patterned wallpaper and string.
