This stunning antiquarian edition of The Young Lady's Book A Manual of Elegant Recreations, Exercises and Pursuits was published in 1832 by Vizetelly, Branston and Co. So the book is from the late Georgian era. The book has undergone restoration work and has a completely new casing - but what's lovely is that they've put the original cloth cover (or what was left of them!) over the new boards. So there's still an original feature (aside from the pages in the text block).
Thanks to the restoration work, this book can be read and enjoyed for many years to come. It's a sturdy book to handle. There is wear and tear to the original cloth, with some marking to the rich maroon cloth.
Inside, there is an illuminated title page which has some wear and loss to the edges. The pages show light age toning, with occasional marking, foxing and age staining - the staining is most noticeable to the illustration plates. Some of the pages show faint creasing.
Dimensions approximately 17.7cm x 11cm x 3.8cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and ribbon.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
