This absolutely stunning book contains several plays bound together as one (with differing dates of publication). The first is The Country Lasses; Or, The Custom of the Manor: A Comedy was adapted for Theatrical Representation, as Performed at the Theatre Royal in Covent Garden, London. It was written by Mr Charles Johnson and published in 1791 by John Bell. The book also features some other works, including The Gamesters by Shirley and Charles Johnson (1792) and Lovers Vows by Elizabeth Inchbald (a play mentioned in Austen's book Mansfield Park) and a few others - the latest is dated 1845.

The book features a contemporary half calf binding with marbled paper boards and gilt tooling to the spine.

It's in very good condition, but there is rubbing to the extremities, with loss to the surface of the leather in places. The boards are also rubbed and worn, with some peeling to the paper. The leather shows light marking and scuffing and there is faint sunning to the spine.

Inside, the pages show age toning and sporadic foxing throughout, but the text is clear and bright. There are occasional ink stains and age stains, as well as some penned names at various places through the book (usually the title and first pages).
