This beautiful antique edition of Wonders of Creation as Portrayed by Great Writers was published by Gall and Inglis. The book itself is undated but there is an inscription inside dated 1896. So the book is late Victorian. The book is bound in green cloth with pictorial decoration and gilt to the front board and spine. It's a really eye catching binding.
It's in very good condition with just crushing to the spine ends which has caused splitting in the cloth. The book shows a slight forward lean and there is light wear to the corners. The text block edges have minor foxing.
Inside, there is a written inscription on the front free endpaper. The pages have light age toning and scattered foxing. There are superficial cracks to the gutter in places but all pages remain tightly bound. There are a handful of black and white plates inside.
Dimensions approximately 21cm x 145cm x 4.3cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string. The bubble wrap I use is 100% biodegradable and the jiffy bags are recyclable.
Where possible, I use 100% recyclable paper tape, but sometimes I have to use clear plastic tape for extra strength.
