This beautiful edition of Country Pastimes for Boys was published by Longmans Green and Co in 1895. So the book is late Victorian. It's bound in original publisher's cloth, with gilt detail to the front board and spine. All edges gilt.
It's in good condition but there is wear to the corners and board edge. The book shows a slight forward lean and there is marking and soiling to the cloth. The spine is faintly darkened and rubbed, whilst crushing to the spine ends has caused minor splitting in the cloth.
Inside, the pages show age toning and heavy foxing. There are occasional cracks to the gutter but the pages remain tightly bound.
All books purchased will be hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
