This beautiful antique edition of The Poetical Works of Campbell and Moore was published by Thomas Nelson and Sons in 1860.
The book is bound in blue cloth with elaborate gold gilt decoration blind stamped into the front board and spine. It's a really stunning example of the beauty of Victorian bookbinding. It's in remarkably good condition but there is some light wear and fraying to the corners. The boards show some general soiling and minor marking, with scuffing to the back board. The spine is faintly sunned with rubbing to the gilt, and there is crushing to the spine ends.
Inside, there is a neatly written inscription on the front free endpaper and there is light soiling to the endpapers. The pages show age toning and foxing/marking but the text is clear and bright. There is cracking to the gutter in places but the pages remain tightly bound. There is staining to some of the illustration plates.
Book dimensions approximately 17cm x 11cm x 2.5cm.
The book features a handful of stunning black and white illustrations and the pages are edged with gold gilt.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubbled wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough.
