This beautiful edition of The Poetical Works of William Cowper was published by Ward, Lock and Co Ltd. The book is undated but I'd estimate it to be from the late Victorian era (circa 190/1900).
The book is bound in brown cloth with stunning floral decoration and gilt to the front board and spine. It is in near fine condition, with just slight bowing to the boards and foxing to the text block edges. The spine is very faintly darkened and there is bumping to the bottom edge of the back board.
Inside, the endpapers are tanned and there are some pencilled numbers on the half title page. The pages are clean and bright with light age toning and scattered foxing.
Dimensions approximately 19.2cm x 13.4cm x 3cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
