This stunning edition of Long Time Ago by M Corbet Seymour was published by Blackie and Son. The book itself is undated but there is a presentation plate inside dated 1898. So the book is from the late Victorian era.
The book is beautifully bound in blue cloth with pictorial decoration to the front board and spine. It's a really attractive binding and there is a binder's signature to the front although it's hard to make out. It's in very good condition with just light wear to the corners and foxing to the text block edges. The spine is slightly darkened.
Inside, there is a presentation plate glued to the front pastedown and tanning to the endpapers. There is a school stamp opposite the Contents page. The pages show age toning and occasional marking. There are some superficial cracks to the gutter in places but the pages remain tightly bound.
Dimensions approximately 18.3cm x 12.5cm x 1.7cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned paper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
