This beautiful edition of Driven From Sea to Sea by C C Post was published by Elliot and Beezley in 1888. The book is bound in brown cloth with blind stamped decoration in dark brown and gilt to the front board and spine. What's unusual is the marbled text block edges - you don't see this very often in clothbound books.
It's in very good condition but there is wear and crushing to the corners and the book shows a slight forward lean. There is wear to the board edges and slight splitting to the cloth in places. The spine is a little rubbed, whilst crushing to the spine ends has caused minor splitting in the cloth. The marbling to the top and bottom edge of the text block is faded.
Inside, the pages are very tanned with occasional foxing and marks. There is a name written on the verso of the frontispiece.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
