This lovely antique edition of London Pride or When the World Was Younger by Mary Elizabeth Braddon was published by Simpkin Marshall, Hamilton, Kent and Co in 1896. So the book is late Victorian. It's bound in navy cloth with gilt lettering and floral decoration to the front board.

It's in good condition but there is a white mark to the front hinge and there is damp damage to the back board. The corners are lightly worn and crushed and there is foxing to the text block edges. The spine is faintly sunned, with some white spotting to the cloth; the spine ends are crushed.

Inside, there is a name and date written on the FFEP and the pages show light age toning and sporadic foxing - the foxing is most prominent to the page edges and endpapers. There is slight cracking to the front hinge.

The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.

I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
