This beautiful edition of For Lucy's Sake by Annie S Swan was published by S W Partridge and Co. The book is undated but there is a presentation plate inside dated 1900. So the book is from the very end of the Victorian era.
The book is bound in red cloth with pretty pictorial decoration and gilt to the front board and spine. Externally it's in very good condition. There is light wear and bumping to the corners and the boards show minor soiling. The spine is sunned, with crushing to the spine ends.
Inside, there is a presentation plate glued to the front free endpaper and the endpapers are noticeably tanned. The pages show age toning and scattered foxing throughout, with occasional finger marks. There is a crack to the gutter just before the title page but the pages remain tightly bound.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
