This beautiful early Victorian edition of the Book of Common Prayer is housed in a fine Morocco binding with the gilt coat of arms of the Bishop of Exeter to the front board. The text block edges are tinted red, the spine features five raised bands and gilt tooling. There is a brass clasp.
It's in near fine condition, with just some small water marks and scuffs to the text block edges. There is light wear to the corners and board edges. The spine is slightly darkened and there is minor marking to the leather. The brass clasp is a little tarnished.
Inside, there are gilt inner dentelles and a presentation plate on the front pastedown. The book was given as a prize to a young man by the Bishop of Exeter. The pages show light age toning and sporadic foxing but are otherwise clean and bright. There is a bump to the edge of the preliminary pages.
Dimensions approximately 16cm x 11.7cm x 4.2cm. The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and ribbon.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
