This beautiful vintage edition of Sylvan Spring by Francis George Heath was published by James Nisbet & Co Ltd in 1887. It's bound in green cloth with pretty floral decoration to the front and spine.
***Please note that the book has a smoky odour***
It's in good condition with the most noticeable flaw being the darkening to the spine and dulling to the gilt on the spine. The book shows a slight forward lean and there is light wear to the corners.
Inside, there is a cutting stuck to the front free endpaper and a written inscription on the verso of the FFEP. There is slight cracking to the internal hinges and occasionally to the gutter. The pages remain tight to the binding. There is light age toning throughout with occasional foxing. A bump to the bottom edge of the text block has caused slight damage to the bottom of pages 51 to 60. This does not reach the text.
There are twelve colour plates and more numerous black and white illustrations.
Dimensions approximately 20.3cm x 14.7cm x 3.5cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
