This beautiful edition of Little Women by Louisa May Alcott was published by George Routledge and Sons Limited. The book is undated but I'd estimate it to be from circa 1900.
The book is bound in green cloth with beautiful pictorial decoration to the front board and gilt to the spine. It's in good condition but there is light wear and crushing to the corners. There is some rubbing and minor marking to the boards. There is also rubbing to the spine, with darkening to the cloth and dulling to the gilt.
Inside, the front free endpaper has been removed and the hinge has been reinforced with tape. The half title page is tanned and spotted and there are some pencil annotations in the top corner of the front pastedown. The pages show light age toning throughout, with sporadic marking and foxing. The book has undergone some minor restoration to reattach loose page segments. There is creasing to some of the top corners where a previous reader has dog eared the pages whilst reading.
Dimensions approximately 19cm x 13cm x 2cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
