This beautiful edition of Flowers and Their Teachings was published by the Religious Tract Society. The book itself is undated but I'd estimate it to be from the latter part of the Victorian era (circa 1880's).
The book is bound in blue cloth with stunning decoration blind stamped in gilt and black to the front board and spine. It's in good condition with some minor marking to the boards and light wear and bumping to the board edges. The corners are worn and crushed which has caused slight splitting in the cloth. The spine is sunned and darkened, with rubbing to the spine edges. Crushing to the spine ends has caused splitting in the cloth and there is a larger split to the top of the front joint.
Inside, the front free endpaper has been removed and the book opens onto the frontispiece. There is a name and address on the verso of the frontispiece. There is light age toning and scattered foxing throughout, with occasional age related stains. There are occasional cracks to the gutter but the pages remain tightly bound. The book is filled with beautiful black and white illustrations.
Dimensions approximately 15.7cm x 12.8cm x 1.7cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
