This beautiful edition of The Stray Lamb by Margaret Haycraft was published by John F Shaw and Co. The book itself is undated but there is a written inscription inside dated 1898 - so the book is from the late Victorian era.

The book is bound in blue cloth with beautiful floral decoration to the front board and spine. It’s in very good condition but there is bumping to the board edges, as well as light wear and crushing to the corners. The boards show minor marking and the spine is lightly sunned and rubbed, with crushing to the spine ends. 

Inside, the pages show heavy foxing and age toning throughout. There is a written inscription on the verso of the frontispiece. Occasionally the pages show creasing to the top corner where a previous reader has dog eared them. 

Dimensions approximately 19.8cm x 13.2cm x 1.7cm. 

The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.

I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
