This beautiful antique edition of A Corner of the West by Edith Henrietta Fowler was published by Hutchinson and Co in 1899. So the book is from the end of the Victorian era.
The book is bound in green cloth with pretty decoration and gilt lettering to the front board and spine. It's in very good condition, with just light wear to the corners and board edges. There is a small hole in the cloth to the top edge of the back board and foxing to the text block edges. The spine is a little sunned.
Inside, a presentation plate or name plate has been removed from the front pastedown and there is tanning to the endpapers. The pages show lighter age toning and occasional foxing. There are superficial cracks to the gutter in places but the pages remain tight to the binding.
Dimensions approximately 19.5cm x 14cm x 3.8cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
