This lovely and striking edition of Winners in Life's Race (or the Great Backboned Family) by Arabella Buckley was published by Macmillan and Co Ltd in 1909. The book is bound in original green cloth with stunning gilt decoration blind stamped to the front board and spine. It's a really eye catching book and in very good condition. There is bumping to the top corner of the front board and light rubbing to all the corners. The gilt edges show some minor scuffs and marks. The spine is sunned, with a little bit of wear to the decoration (minor loss to the white colour).
Inside, there is a name written on the front free endpaper; the pages show light age toning and sporadic foxing. There are occasional cracks to the gutter in places but the pages remain tightly bound.
There are beautiful black and white illustrations throughout which bring this lovely book to life.
Dimensions approximately 19.8cm x 13.5cm x 3.2cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and ribbon. The bubble wrap I use is 100% biodegradable and the jiffy bags are recyclable.
Where possible, I use 100% recyclable paper tape, but sometimes I have to use clear plastic tape for extra strength.
