This beautiful vintage edition of The Double Garden by Maurice Maeterlinck was published by George Allen and Unwin Ltd in 1904. So the book is from the Edwardian era. It is bound in green cloth with black decoration in an art nouveau style to the front board and spine.
The book is a collection of essays exploring nature and the human soul.
It's in very good condition with just light wear to the corners and extremities of the book. The back corners are slightly crushed and there is minor marking to the boards. The spine is sunned and rubbed, with crushing to the spine ends.
Inside, there is a neatly written name and date on the front free endpaper. The pages show light age toning and scattered foxing throughout.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
