This beautiful antique edition of Some Impressions of the United States by Edward Freeman was published by Longmans, Green and Co in 1886. It's bound in full calf leather with gilt tooling and five raised bands to the spine. The text block edges are marbled and the front board has a blind stamped school insignia in gilt.
The book is in very good condition but there is some marking and scuffing to the leather, as well as a small stain in the bottom corners of the boards. The corners show light wear and the spine is faintly sunned. There is dulling to the top edge of the text block.
Inside, the endpapers are marbled to match the text block edges and there is a presentation plate glued to the front pastedown. The pages show light age toning and sporadic foxing but are in very good, antique condition. The foxing is most pronounced to the preliminary pages.
Dimensions of the book are approximately 18.5cm x 12.7cm x 2.7cm.
Every book purchased will be hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
