This stunning edition of Stories of Old Renown Tales of Knights and Heroes by Ascot R Hope features a wonderful cloth binding with blind stamped decoration in brown and gilt to the front board and spine. The image of a knight slaying a dragon on the front is particularly striking. The book was published by Blackie and Son in 1883, so the book is from the Victorian era.
The book is in very good condition with just light wear to the corners and board edges. There are some minor marks and scuffs to the cloth and the spine edges are rubbed, with crushing to the spine ends.
Inside, there is name plate glued to the front pastedown and a written inscription on the verso of the front free endpaper. The hinges have been reinforced with tape and the text block has been resewn as there were multiple loose segments. The pages show light age toning and sporadic marking and foxing. The book is filled with black and white illustrations by Gordon Browne which brings these romantic tales to life.

I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
