This rare and stunning antique edition of Our Forests and Woodlands by John Nisbet was published in 1900 by J M Dent and Co Ltd. It was a limited edition and is numbed 62 of 150. It is bound in full vellum over bevelled boards with gilt decoration to the front board and spine. The text block edges are rough cut and the pages are handmade paper.
This fine binding is in very good condition - there is light soiling and marking to the vellum and slight darkening/discolouration to the spine. There are some scuff marks to the back board.
Inside, the endpapers are illustrated and there is a pretty name plate glued to the front pastedown. There is a written inscription (a particularly beautiful one!) glued to the verso of the FFEP. This has left some browning glue marks behind. The pages show light age toning and sporadic foxing - this is more pronounced to the preliminary pages. There are black and white plates of photographed scenes. Each chapter heading also has an illustration by Arthur Rackham which is an exciting addition.

The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and ribbon.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubbled wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
