This lovely, antique edition of Allegories by Frederic W Farrar was published by Longmans Green and Co in 1898, making the book late Victorian.
The book is bound in blue cloth with intricate gilt decoration to the front board and spine. It's in near fine condition, with only minor signs of wear. There is light wear and bumping to the corners, and the boards have some minor marking and discolouration. The spine ends are crushed which has caused slight splitting to the cloth.
Inside, there are no inscriptions but there is a pencilled price opposite the half title page. The pages have foxing throughout but are otherwise clean and bright.
The book features twenty five striking black and white illustrations by Amelia Bauerle.
Dimensions approximately 18.5cm x 13.5cm x 3cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
