This lovely edition of The Life of Charlotte Bronte by Mrs Elizabeth Gaskell was published by Harpers and Brothers Publishers in 1900. So the book is from the very end of the Victorian era.
The book is bound in green cloth with beautiful gilt decoration to the front board and spine. It's a really striking binding and in very good condition for it's age. There is light wear to the corners and bumping to the back corners. There is minor marking to the boards and light sunning to the spine. The spine ends are crushed and there is a faint scuff mark to the front board.
Inside, the front free endpaper has been removed and the pages show age toning throughout.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
