This pretty edition of The Basket of Flowers A Tale for the Young was published by Thomas Nelson and Sons in 1881. So the book is from the Victorian era. It's bound in brown cloth with striking floral decoration blind stamped in black to the front board and spine.
It's in very good condition with light wear and crushing to the corners and light wear to the extremities. The cloth shows minor marks and there is foxing to the text block edges. There is a slight forward lean to the book.
Inside, there is a presentation plate glued to the front pastedown and the endpapers show foxing and tanning. There is light cracking to the front hinge and the binding thread can be seen at the gutter in place. The pages are clean and bright, with scattered foxing and occasional handling marks.
Dimensions approximately 16cm x 11cm x 1.6cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
