This beautiful antique edition of The New Practical Window Gardener by John R Mollison was published by Groombridge and Sons in 1879. So the book is from the mid Victorian era. It is bound in original blue cloth over bevelled boards, with stunning blind stamped decoration in black and gilt to the front and spine.
It's in very good condition, with light wear to the corners and foxing to the text block edges. The boards are clean and bright but there is a small chip to the brown curtain decoration to the front. The spine is sunned, whilst crushing to the spine ends has caused minor splitting in the cloth.
Inside, there is a bookseller's stamped to the top corner of the FFEP. The pages show light age toning, with sporadic foxing and handling marks. This particular edition has two colour plates (the earlier editions have six) and numerous black and white illustrations.

The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
