This stunning edition of Lucile by Owen Meredith was published by Thomas Y Crowell & Company. The book itself is undated but there is a written inscription inside dated 1888.
The book is bound in green cloth over bevelled boards, with striking floral decoration in black and gilt to the front board and spine. All edges gilt. It's in very good condition, but the book does show a slight forward lean. There is wear and minor fraying to the corners, whilst the board edges show occasional bumping. The cloth shows minor marking and crushing to the spine ends has caused splitting in the cloth.
Inside, there is an inscription written on the front free endpaper and the pages show age toning throughout. There is a very slight crack to the bottom of the back hinge.
This special book will be hand wrapped in biodegradable bubble wrap, patterned wallpaper and string.
