This 1857 edition of The Course of Time A Poem by Robert Pollok was published by William Blackwood and Sons and is bound in original publisher's cloth. The book is bound in red cloth over bevelled boards with ornate gilt decoration blind stamped to the boards and spine. The text block edges are gilt.
The book is in very good condition but there is some wear and minor fraying to the cloth at the corners. The board edges show some shelf wear (bumping and rubbing) and the boards have minor marks and rubbing. The gilt on the front board and spine are slightly dulled when compared to the back board and the spine is noticeably sunned. There is rubbing to the spine edges, and crushing to the spine ends has caused some splitting in the cloth.
Inside, there is a written name and date on the front free endpaper and the pages show age toning and foxing throughout, with occasional marking to the paper. There is some slight damage to the bottom of Pages 67-74 (near the joint). There are also some cracks to the gutter in places, but other than one page segment which feels a little loose, the pages are securely bound.
The book is filled with beautiful black and white illustrations.
Dimensions approximately 22.6cm x 17cm x 3.3cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string. The bubble wrap I use is 100% biodegradable and the jiffy bags are recyclable.
Where possible, I use 100% recyclable paper tape, but sometimes I have to use clear plastic tape for extra strength.
