This beautiful book features a selection of work by Alfred Tennyson and was published by Edward Moxon and Co in 1865. So the book is from the earlier part of the Victorian era.
The book is bound in green cloth with gold gilt decoration to the front board and spine. The boards are bevelled.
It's in remarkably good condition for it's age but there are some small dents to the board edges, and the corners are worn and crushed with splitting to the cloth. The boards show minor marks and rubbing, and there is crushing to the spine ends which has caused slight splitting in the cloth.
Inside, there is a neatly written inscription on one of the preliminary blank pages and the pages show age toning throughout. There is sporadic marking but the text is clear and bright. The hinges are cracked but the pages remain tightly bound.
Dimensions approximately 17cm x 13cm x 2.8cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubbled wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
