This lovely edition of Essays Written in the Intervals of Business by Arthur Helps was published by William Pickering. It features a contemporary half leather binding, with five raised bands and gilt tooling to the spine.
It's in very good condition, with just minor fading to the spine and a small mark to the front board.
Inside, the endpapers are marbled and the pages show light age toning throughout with occasional foxing. Someone has written in pencil the name of the author on the title page.
