This beautiful antique edition of The Seasons by James Thomson was published by Longman, Brown, Green, and Longmans in 1842. It's bound in full Morocco leather with gold gilt tooling to the boards and spine. The text block edges are gold gilt and the spine features five raised bands.
The book is in good condition considering it's over 180 years old. There is minor wear to the corners and board edges, and the boards show light marking and soiling. There are also some scuffs to the leather. The spine is sunned and there is cracking starting to the top of the external hinges. There is some loss to the surface of the leather at the spine ends and edges.
Inside, the pages show light age toning and sporadic marking. There is cracking to the front hinge but the pages remain tightly bound. The text is clear and bright, and the book is filled with beautiful black and white illustrations.
Dimensions of the book are approximately 21.5cm x 15.3cm x 3cm.
Every book purchased will be hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
