This lovely Victorian edition of The Life of Nelson by Robert Southey was published in 1842 by J Murray. It features a lovely half leather binding with four raised bands to the spine and marbled text block edges.
The book is in good condition but there are signs of wear. There is rubbing and wear to the board edges, with some peeling to the surface of the paper and leather. The boards are lightly rubbed and there is fading to the spine. The leather spine has some minor marking and loss to the surface of the leather.
Inside, there is a name plate glued to the front pastedown and an ex libris plate glued to the front free endpaper. The pages show age toning with occasional foxing and marking but the pages are in remarkable condition considering the book is over 180 years old. There are a handful of black and white illustrations within the text.
Dimensions approximately 15.3cm x 10.5cm x 2.2cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubbled wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
