This wonderful two volume edition of Rosamond by Maria Edgeworth is the second edition of this popular 19th century work. It was published in 1822 by Rowland Hunter, Baldwin, Cradock and Joy. The books are from the latter part of the Georgian era. They are bound in quarter Morocco with marbled paper boards.
"Rosamond" is a novel by Irish writer Maria Edgeworth that follows the character Rosamond, first seen in Edgeworth's Early Lessons. It focuses on a young girl's impulsive choice to purchase a beautiful, but useless, purple jar instead of practical shoes. It was a moral tale (very popular with Victorians) highlighting the dangers of vanity and the importance of choosing wisely with money
The books are in very good condition with the most noticeable flaw being the wear to the spine ends, with some loss to the leather at the heads of the spines. The spines are also a little rubbed. There is some wear to the boards and board edges; the corners and board edges show some bumping and loss to the surface of the paper.
Inside, the pages show age toning and sporadic foxing throughout. One page segment is a little loose at the bottom but still attached - it sticks out slightly from the edge of the text block. There are occasional cross marks (most in pencil) and creasing.

The books will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
