This beautiful edition of Our Wild Flowers Familiarly Described and Illustrated by Louisa Anne Twamley was published by Charles Tilt in 1839. So the book is from the very start of the Victorian era. It's bound in full Morocco with beautiful gilt tooling to the boards and spine.
It's a very attractive binding, and in very good condition - there is wear to the corners and board edges which has caused loss to the surface of the leather. The boards show minor marks and scuffing, and the gilt on the front is a little dulled. The spine is sunned, with loss to the surface of the leather along the spine edges and at the spine ends. The gilt is also dulled on the spine when compared to the boards.
Inside, there is creasing to the front endpaper, with some pencilled numbers. The pages show light age toning, with sporadic foxing and marking. There is also some creasing in places. The plates have been hand coloured which is a beautiful feature in early 19th century books.

The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and ribbon. I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
