This wonderful two volume set of Jones's Cabinet Edition of Select British Poets was published in 1825 (the latter part of the Georgian era). The books are uniformly bound in maroon leather, with marbled paper boards. The spine features leather title labels and gilt tooling. Some of the poets feature include Milton, Burns and Goldsmith.
They are in very good condition, but there is peeling to the paper at the board edges, and some wear and chipping to the paper boards. The corners and spine edges are worn, with loss to the surface of the leather. One spine is slightly dulled and there is minor cracking to the leather.
Inside, the paper shows slight rippling and there is age toning and scattered foxing throughout. There is a small area of damage to one of the front pastedowns ( a name plate may have been removed ).
Dimensions of each volume approximately 18cm x 11cm x 2.8cm.
All books purchased will be hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I try to be as eco-friendly in my wrapping as possible, using paper tape and oxo-degradable bubble wrap.
