This rare little edition of Mental Improvement For a Young Lady on her Entrance Into the World; Addressed to a Favourite Niece was written by Sarah Green and published in 1796. The first edition was released in 1793 so this is a new edition published just three years after the first edition. The book was aimed at educating young women on the brink of adulthood, providing knowledge to help them navigate society and fostering mental "improvement" through structured learning.
It's has been given a contemporary leather binding - when I acquired the book it was missing it's front board so the original binding couldn't be salvaged. The binding is complimentary to the original style though and has been done to a very high standard. The endpapers inside are also new.
The pages show age toning and scattered foxing throughout, with light wear to the page edges. Dimensions approximately 12.5cm x 8.5cm x 1.6cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and ribbon.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubbled wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
