This beautiful, antique edition of William Wordsworth's Poetical Works was published by Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge. The book itself is undated but there is a presentation plate dated 1912. So the book is likely to be from just after the end of the Edwardian era.
The book is half bound in cream vellum with delicate gilt decoration in an art nouveau style to the spine. The boards are bound in pink cloth. It's in good condition but there is soiling and discolouration to the vellum, particularly to the spine. The book has been priced to reflect this. The pink cloth also shows some soiling and minor marking, and there is toning to the text block edges.
Inside, there is a presentation plate glued to the front pastedown. The pages show light age toning, with occasional foxing and creasing to the paper in places.
Dimensions approximately 19.1cm x 13cm x 4cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
