This stunning edition of Tales for Young People by Maria Edgeworth was published by Blackie and Son in 1895. So the book is from the latter part of the Victorian era.
The book is bound in pale blue cloth with a beautiful pattern of flowers to the front board and spine. It's in good condition but there is wear to the corners and fraying to the cloth. the book shows a slight forward lean and foxing to the text block edges. There is minor marking to the cloth and rubbing to the spine; the spine ends are crushed.
Inside, there is a library stamp to the FFEP, the contents page and the first page of text. The endpapers are tanned whilst the rest of the pages show lighter age toning and there are scattered finger marks throughout. Some of the top corners have been dog eared by a previous reader leaving creasing behind.
Dimensions approximately 18.9cm x 13cm x 2cm.
All books purchased will be hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubbled wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
