This beautiful edition of Hans Christian Andersen's Fairy Tales was published by Seeley and Co. The book itself is undated but there I'd estimate it to be early 20th century - circa 1910.
The book is bound in red cloth and is showing it's age. There is wear and crushing to the corners, as well as fading and marking to the boards. The book shows a forward lean and the boards are shaky. The spine is sunned, whilst crushing to the spine ends has caused minor splitting in the cloth.
Inside, the hinges are cracked and there are some written names in both pencil and pen to the FFEP. The pages show age toning and foxing throughout, with occasional chipping and minor tears to the page edges. There are also sporadic cracks to the gutters but the pages remain securely bound. The book features beautiful black and white illustrations by HM Brock.
All books purchased will be hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
