This stunning edition of A Fair Claimant by Frances Armstrong was published by Blackie and Son. The book is undated but there is a presentation plate inside dated 1912. So the book was published just after the end of the Edwardian era. There is beautiful pictorial decoration of a lady to the front board - she's incredibly striking.
It's in good condition but there is wear and bumping to the corners. The text block edges show foxing and light soiling. The boards show light marking and the back board has some scuffs and scratches. There is a dent to the edge of the back board which has caused some damage to the board. The spine is sunned, whilst crushing to the spine ends has caused minor splitting in the cloth.
Inside, there is a presentation plate glued to the front free endpaper and the frontispiece is detached. The pages show foxing and age toning throughout, with occasional marking. There are some small chips to the page edges in places and occasional cracks to the gutter - despite this, the pages remain tightly bound.
Dimensions approximately 19.3cm x 14cm x 4.6cm.
All books purchased will be hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
