This stunning antique edition of The Poetical Works of Samuel Taylor Coleridge was published by George Routledge and Sons. The book itself is undated but I'd estimate it to be from the mid to late Victorian era (circa 1880). It was part of the Excelsior Series.
The book is bound in red cloth with beautiful floral decoration to the boards and spine. It's in very good condition for it's age, with only light rubbing to the corners and soiling to the boards. The spine is sunned, and crushing to the spine ends has caused some minor splitting in the cloth. There is a small mark to the front board and some minor marks to the text block edges.
Inside, there is tanning to the endpapers and faint cracking to the hinges. There is a neatly written name on the front free endpaper and an inscription on the reverse of the FFEP. There is also a stamped name on the Contents Page. The pages show age toning and very occasional marking but the text is clear and bright. There are some superficial cracks to the gutter in places but the pages remain tightly bound.
Dimensions approximately 19cm x 13cm x 2.5cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
