This beautiful vintage edition of The Mill on the Floss by George Eliot was published by Collins Clear Type Press. The book itself is undated but there is a written inscription inside dated 1907. So the book is likely from the Edwardian era.
The book is bound in blue cloth with art nouveau detail blind stamped to the front board and spine. It's in good condition for it's age but the corners do show wear and the book has a slight forward lean. The boards show minor marking and the spine is sunned and darkened. Crushing to the spine ends has caused some splitting in the cloth.
Inside the endpapers are beautifully decorative and feature a beautiful reading lady and art nouveau flowers. There is a written inscription on the front free endpaper and the pages throughout show significant tanning. The frontispiece is loose at the top but still attached at the bottom. There are occasional marks to the pages and sporadic cracks to the gutter (despite this, the pages remain tightly bound - save for the frontispiece as mentioned above).
The book features a handful of black and white plates.
Dimensions approximately 19cm x 13.5cm x 3cm.
The books will be posted hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
